Developing Strategic Foresight Capacity in the Public Sector

Have just returned from Manila where we were graciously hosted by the Development Academy of the Philippines, the central organisation developing opportunities and planning ideas for other Government agencies. Along with the DAP team we had representatives from Mongolia, Fiji, Indonesia and China all keen to add to their existing approaches to helping their countries take a more effective forward view
Working with Maree Conway from Thinking Futures we designed and delivered the program on behalf of the Asian Productivity Organisation, a twenty member Organsation founded in the early 1960s that supports the Asian region map each Country's economic and social development models. The initiative aimed to create a pool of experts who can serve as in-country trainers to increase organizational readiness for a future-ready public-sector.
With increasing complexity in public policy formulation and socioeconomic development agendas, it is critical to equip public-sector and corporate planners with the principles of strategic foresight and scenario planning. Like lab grown meats, Vertical Farming is going to be part of the future of food. For now it might be best to compare them to small scale battery storage on the electrical grid that can help balance out spikes of demand in the system and provide an output directly where needed.
